Maria Mancini’s Robusto Larga

The Robusto Larga is a medium to full bodied cigar by Maria Mancini. The taste seems to strengthen as it is smoked and throughout it provides classic flavors of a traditional cigar.

First of all, I made a mistake with this cigar, I enjoyed it so much that I didn’t stop smoking when I should have. The first and second thirds were mild and medium, but I got deep into this cigar and the flavor turned very strong and then acrid. My fault entirely.

Sometimes too much of a good thing is too much!

After doing a bit of research, I discovered that Maria Mancini has been producing cigars for decades starting in the mid 80’s. They are purported to be a Cuban-esque style cigar. The price point suggests that they cater to more of a frugal smoker and offer several lines of cigars starting from lower prices to higher.

My Opinion

Not bad. It was okay, but it didn’t blow my socks off. Yes, I would smoke it again, more slowly and not take it so far. Smoking to the wrapper with this cigar is far enough. As I mentioned above, I got too aggressive and the taste turned acrid at the end.

The first two thirds were quite good. The smoke was cool, and it burned very well and straight. All told, however, the Robusto lacked a certain something to make it a great cigar.  Again, it was okay.

The Occasion

Smoking a cigar takes a certain level of commitment at least in terms of time and space. In today’s world people won’t easily tolerate second hand smoke and smoking a cigar will produce quite a bit of that smoke over a span of 30 to 40 minutes. Therefore, unless you’re smoking at home, you need the appropriate occasion.

My occasion, I spent the weekend at the lake enjoying spring, fishing, hiking, and of course, smoking this cigar.

Here’s my view as the sun is rising on a cool morning.

We had a great time and enjoyed getting away to experience the outdoors and nature’s wonders. The lake isn’t very large. It’s manmade and about a mile around it if you were to walk the shoreline. Which I did at least a couple of times a day.

On the first day I discovered a couple of geese at the southern end of the lake in a small inlet.  Each time I returned to that spot they were still there, sticking to that same spot. On the second day, I decided to investigate and this is what I found.

I’ve never seen goose eggs before, but I can tell you now, they are much larger than chicken eggs. I’ll take these eggs as a sign of a warmer future. Spring is upon us, new life abounds, and fate willing our future can be what we will make of it.

May each of us have the latitude to in some way shape our lives for the better and maintain a trajectory leading to happiness and health.
