Cigar of the Month Club #2

It is the month or May during the Covid-19 Pandemic of 2020, and I just got my second installment of new cigars from JR - And they are amazing!

JR Cigar must be trying to buy me off early. Any month now, they are going to send me crap and I'll want to quit. Right? Isn't that how we are supposed to manage our expectations? Expect the worse and don't get excited when everything is slightly better?

In all honesty, if I keep getting such great cigars every month, I won't ever cancel. I love the variety. Every month is a new adventure. It's like Christmas all year round.

Serie GThe Oliva Serie G is a more traditional offering than what we have come to expect from this world renowned brand – but that is definitely not a problem. Why? Because the Serie G still features the perfect draw, top-tier craftsmanship and clean burn that made Oliva Cigars famous.

This Nicaraguan beauty is made from Habano long-leaf fillers, a Cuban-seed Habano binder, and your choice of either an African Cameroon or Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper. It’s simple, elegant and inviting. To satisfy the palate, this medium-bodied handmade cigar features a warm cedar flavor complemented by notes of coffee and a subtle nuttiness. Needless to say, the Serie G is a treat from the first draw to the last.

Ending With Conclusions

That's it for this post. I thought I would end with something that has been weighing on my mind lately.

Like probably most others right now, I do spend a fair amount of time everyday considering the Coronavirus and how it is affecting our lives. That is a normal thing to do and jumping to conclusions (especially emotional conclusions) is also a normal thing to do - albeit something we should resist.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation out there. That's the job of Infotainment after all, right?

Be careful what you believe. Be cognizant that everyone is susceptible to their own narrative, their bias.

Narratives shape the information we receive and emotion transforms that into the desire to jump to conclusions.

Don't do it!

Try to keep things in perspective and be patient. We need more accurate information to truly understand what's going on and how it will affect our lives and the world at large.

Everything is going to work out in the end. Philosophy teaches us to use our brains, our reason, to stay calm, stay objective and to proceed in the best way possible.

I can't convince you. I can't think for you, but I encourage you to do just that.

Think!

Think for yourself!

Don't let others do it for you.

  1. Lighting a cigar is not like lighting the tip of a cigarette or the wick of a candle coz it takes longer. If you want to know the best idea, check out How To Light A Cigar: Guides for Newbies and Aficionados.
