Hallelujah! Romeo and Julieta Ciggarros | Never Disappointing!

I just finished mowing the lawn, the sun is out, and there is a light cool breeze coming from the east. Today, I'm smoking a classic that never disappoints, the Romeo and Julieta 1875.

It's important to have a go to cigar, something dependable and constant like this R & J.

I bought a pack of ten from JR Cigars a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned in a previous post that I'm also a member with JR Cigars and have subscribed to a sampler pack every month. Realizing that there is no guarantee that I'll enjoy all of the cigars they send me, I take comfort in the fact that I have today's stogie as a fallback.

I'm pairing it with one finger of Buffalo Trace whiskey.  I know, just one finger. I'm taking it easy today.

The Romeo and Julietta Ciggarros

In keeping with the saying of not reinventing the wheel, I will once again quote JR Cigars' wonderfully written synopsis. No I don't work for them, though I'm a happy customer who wants to spread the word.

"Named for the lovers in Shakespeare’s classic play, Romeo y Julieta 1875 Cigars was founded in Cuba in 1875 and has since become an iconic, world-renowned brand enjoyed by smokers of all experience levels. Today Romeo y Julieta cigars are handmade in the Dominican Republic, but retain the same dedication to quality, craftsmanship, price, variety and taste that made the brand so popular from the very beginning.

Now owned by Altadis, Romeo y Julieta handmade cigars boast an impeccable medium-bodied blend of oak and coffee flavors that produce an enchanting aroma. The 1875 is bound in an Indonesian Shade Grown TBN java wrapper and stuffed with fine Brazilian/Dominican long fillers and surrounded by a Dominican binder for a leisurely smoke. It’s cedar and hazelnut undertones, delicate spiciness and extended hours of enjoyment have since captured the hearts of many cigar aficionados, including Winston Churchill himself."

My Thoughts

It's a perfectly sized cigar described as a Bully type measuring 5 x 50 mm, and the last time I checked a pack of ten cost around $58.

This is a cigar that I often take the wrapper off and keep smoking. It's an experience that I don't want to end.

Perfect for relaxing after long days work or equally fitting during a round of golf, the Romeo and Julieta cigar is a job well done.

Most importantly, there are no surprises. I enjoy the consistency that I get with this cigar.

Closing Remarks

Lately, I've been pondering self. Do you understand what I mean? Self as in, who you are, how you as a person (personality, character, dreams, & weaknesses) differ from others.

Have you ever noticed how every child who is born is unique. They are 100% them. If you have ever had children of your own you probably understand what I'm talking about. Nothing you or your significant other did gave them that magical and miraculous distinction of self that set them apart from everyone else.

That's it. That's all. These are the musing of a man at the end of his life looking back to the beginning. I'm revisiting the young man that I used to be and comparing it to the seasoned man I currently am. And there are similarities.

I see the light at the end of my tunnel. I understand now that every day is a gift and every day should be lived to its fullest.

Amazingly, I've found that the natural interests and dreams that I had as a kid, aspects of self that set me apart, still occupy my heart and mind today.

For the rest of my life I vow to live my life, to live my dreams. I will write and imagine and create. I will serve.

All these things I will do for the love of doing them, not for payment or recognition.

Simply a gift for the muse.
